About the manufacturer
Saint Albary cheese is manufactured in a factory located in the southern edge of France, in the Basques at the foot of the French Pyrenees. The factory is owned by the Savencia Corporation (formerly Bongrain). Savencia is a French international corporation for the production of cheeses and dairy products. Savencia’s philosophy is to preserve the factory’s originality. It distributes its products across France and around the world. It specializes in manufacturing unique cheeses following the traditions and climate where they originated. The factory is rated No. 1 in Europe and No. 5 in the world, in its category.
About the product
Saint Albary is one of the classic cheeses made in France and is manufactured for more than 40 years. It is known all over the world thanks to its unique taste and also thanks to its special shape: a round flower made from chunks of cheese which serve as its petals. This is a cheese with a rich taste, with a texture slightly reminiscent of camembert, but less pungent. It becomes more pungent near the end of its shelf life.
When served
The relatively delicate taste of Saint Albary makes it possible to add it to many recipes where high quality cheeses are used. It is excellent for quiches with grilled vegetables, toasts, pasta sauces, baked pasta pastries and even Greek Moussaka. The delicate taste of this cheese will go well with cold Riesling wine or even young red wine.
