About the manufacturer:

Fol Epi cheese is made in a factory on the outskirts of Bretagne in northwestern France, where the climate is rainy and the air filled with Atlantic Ocean salt.

The factory is owned by the international French corporation Savencia, formerly Bongrain. While producing cheeses and other dairy products, Savencia specializes in manufacturing cheeses made according to the traditions of their origins. Its products are distributed world-wide.

The factory is rated No. 1 in Europe and No. 5 in the world, in its category.

About the product:

Fol Epi means ‘crazy wheat’ in French. The cheese is coated with grains of toasted wheat, like a loaf of rustic bread. Wheat tastes penetrate the cheese while aging, giving it its unique flavor and aroma. The Fol Epi is a cheese of the Emmental variety, with softer and more flexible texture. Its delicate, fruity flavor has accents of a creamy taste.

When served:

Due to its delicate flavor, Fol Epi is best consumed in its natural state, in sandwiches and on toasts, where it melts delightfully. The aroma of toasted wheat is accentuated when eaten with a slice of white rustic bread. This cheese is best served with dry white wines, sauvignon blanc or chardonnay.
